GAELSCOIL RAFFLE
The greatest compliment you can pay the enemy is to speak his language. The Irish Heritage E-mail Group has kicked off it's fundraiser raffle for Gaelscoil an Lonnáin, the Belfast Irish language school on the lower Falls Road in west Belfast. This Irish medium primary school has been playing a vital role in the life of the Lower Falls community on a shoestring budget. As of September 2005, Gaelscoil an Lonnáin is now receiving support from the Department of Education - but it is still woefully under funded! Unlike adults beginning studies of the Irish language and culture, little ones are immersed from the start and know only the pride and confidence that living their heritage can bring. This gives them a lifelong deep understanding of the Irish language and instills it as the first, 'thinking' language in their minds instead of approaching it as a second, 'learned' language! These kids are the future of the Irish language. Please come up with three dollars and help them continue with their education in Irish. $3.00 donation per raffle ticket. Drawing is on September 2nd, 2006 Prizes: Autographed CD's from Irish Music groups The Fenians, 1916. Autographed books, Bodhran, T-shirts, Irish related DVD movies and the Grand prize is a very large canvas with characters from Irish mythology beautifully painted on it.
