I'm confident that Mr. Hoban will honour Tone's legacy with a great oration. I hope someone posts it here after.

RSF CONDEMN BRIT ENLISTMENT IN 26-COUNTIES 'Provos Should Stay Away From Tone's Grave' Reports that enlistment to the British army has doubled within the 26-Counties have been condemned by Republican Sinn Féin. A spokesperson for the organisation added that it was hypocritical for the Provisionals to oppose Irish enlistment in one arm of the British Crown Forces whilst openly calling for enlistment in another. Director of Publicity, Richard Walsh, said: “Those who seek enlistment in the British Crown Forces are Quislings who repudiate the right of the Irish people to govern themselves. It can only be described as an act of treachery. “However, it is ironic for a Provo spokesperson to claim that he could see no reason why any Irish person would wish to join the British army, and subsequently condemn their record in Ireland, given their nauseating demands for support for another section of the British Crown Forces, namely the RUC.” He added that they should stay away from the grave of the Father of Irish Republicanism, Theobald Wolfe Tone: “These people have no right to assemble at the grave of Wolfe Tone next week. As Pádraig Pearse once said, 'If I do not hold the faith of Tone, and if Tone was not a heretic then I am. If Tone said “break the connection with England”, and if I am saying “maintain the connection with England”, I may be preaching a saner, as I am certainly preaching a safer gospel than his, but I am obviously not preaching the same gospel'” said Mr. Walsh. Do people on this board not think its time to end all the PROVO bashing eveytime their is a RSF event on....Why give them the time of day by printing their name?????? I agree with you 100% and its something republicans do way too much. If makes us seem bitter and anti provo more than anything else. There also is the fact that those who may see that the provos are wrong may then be more reluctant to give there support to republican groups because of how they perceived themselves to be attacked while members of the provos.

Hello Folks !! Re the Provie bashing - maybe we could compromise : have at them all! All the State parties in LH , that is - they all deserve to have their shortcomings and false claims exposed , especially those amongst 'em that still claim to be 'republican' . For as long as I can remember , the Movement has never held back from verbally givin' it to 'em whenever the opportunity arose - the Stoop Down Lows and the Stickies were always a prime target - less so now 'cause they've both collapsed in on themselves - and I think that's the right thing to do. Anyways... ..........................not long back from Bodenstown - meself and three car-loads of family and mates managed to negotiate the bleedin' spagetti-junction of new roads that ya havta take to get to Sallins - used be the case that ya could just turn right offa the Naas dual carriageway and on to a little country road that took ya into Sallins - but not now  ! Now ya havta turn left - to get to a little village on yer right hand side :? ! - and negotiate a couple of roundabouts and a few up-and-over roads to get to the same place ! And that's progress :P ! The young-fella driving the car I was in knew the road , thank God - it's still a feckin' mystery to me how we got there :) ! The weather was overcast , but dry and warm - then the sun came out when we were assembled in the graveyard and near baked the lot of us ! But when we were just about in Sallins Village , a car with four gentlemen ( ) in it pulled us over and they got out - we stayed put , as usual , and waited for 'em to come to us - they knew meself and the Missus by first name - "Afternoon to ya , Mr and Mrs I - what has ya out this direction...? " , says he to me . "I'm looking for a decent spot to bury a few bodies.." , says I , "....just a pity the poxy bodies themselves are not as decent..." says I to him , looking at him and his three mates :P ! The usual s**t then - outta the car , name and address , "Is this your car..? " blah blah blah etc etc . Fifteen mins later we were on our way - great crowd already assembling at the petrol station and the areas around it - loads of auld buddies and loads of new buddies ! - we stayed there chatting for about 30 mins , then meself and one of the sons and two mates drove up to the graveyard - less than a mile away - and noticed the 'improvements' on that road , too - they're doing away with the lovely greenery that used be on the sides of that road and replacing it with more tarmac  - half-way up a flash black Audi screeched up behind us and started flashing his lights for us to pull over , but the son kept going  and pulled-in outside the graveyard - Startsky and Hutch behind us came running up and asked me son had he not seen them behind - why didn't ya pull over???? Ah no , says he , sure I though yis were just joy-riding boy-racers a'wantin' me to speed up . Sure I'll know better next time , wha' ? , says he  - chip of the auld block , that Boy 8) ! We told them we wanted to see their ID and they showed it to us - all from the Special Detective Unit , wanted our details etc so we told 'em their mates in Sallins already have that info - they radioed back to t'others that had stopped us earlier and then got back in their motor and went off to hassle some other people , no doubt  . RSF crews were in the graveyard and had come out when they heard the Branch car screeching to a stop and the doors slamming - so we had an audience , and they stood around the two cars , asking were we alright and the like - not a bother on us , says we - still looking for a decent spot to bury a couple of poxy-looking bodies  HAR! HAR! We were chattin' to the Horan fella and Seanie , Benny , Luke , Matty , Sharon and a few others in the graveyard - the sound system had been set-up and was being tested , the drinking-water was laid out , the graveyard was being checked-out by RSF heads , loads of Branch , SDU and uniformed cops outside and inside the graveyard , and we done a quick tour of the area , looking at all the old graves - and some new ones , it's still an active graveyard . Then we heard the marching music in the distance - getting closer by the minute. Then we saw the flags , held high , and could make out what must have been about a thousand people following the bands and the Colour Parties - Joe , the Chairperson, was waiting a good ten minutes for all the crowd to enter the graveyard and find standing spots before he could start proceedings , which he eventually did , to loud applause :FlagWaver: ! Joey welcomed the crowd , gave the usual few announcements about up-coming gigs and pickets and the like - the Horan fella was working the crowd , giving out hundreds of leaflets about the June 28 POW picket of the Brit embassy - sure anytime that fella sees a crowd he hasta either give 'em all republican leaflets or he grabs a microphone and starts addressing 'em :D and , after Kitty laid the Wreath from the Movement , Dan Hoban began the main oration - fantastic speech , spoke for about 40 mins , no script , all off the top of his head - gave a history of Tone and Tone's family , and of some of the others that died in 1798 , outlined what their objective was , spoke about the legacy entrusted to us today by those that have gone before us - great stuff , the applause must have been heard in Sallins village ! All too soon , Joe was bringing the event to an end - we repaired to Flangans Mill pub - a load of us :D ! - and carried-on with our own little tribute to Tone and the brave men and women that have marked out the way forward for us . We kicked the establishment's arse in the Lisbon vote , and we're well geared-up to kick their arse again  !! I'll leave it at that , folks - the son says I havta help him clean his car . Says he picked-up some strange-looking shi**y hand prints on it today.... !! HAR! HAR! Catch yis later ! Slan Anois ! Ireland.

Report from 1169 and Counting http://1169andcounting.blogspot.com RSF Colour Party in Bodenstown , Sunday 15 June 2008. Brief report and a few pics (with more to follow) of the RSF-organised Wolfe Tone Commemoration , held today, Sunday 15 June 2008, in Bodenstown Graveyard in Sallins , Co. Kildare . The Dublin bus , which left Aston Quay just before one pm , received a two-car ‘escort’ out of the city : each car had four occupants , each a Special Branch man - one car stayed behind the bus , one in front . Passengers due to be collected en route were very kindly notified by the occupants of a third car that their bus would be with them in ten minutes or so . While the passengers were waiting , ID badges were shown and names and addresses demanded… However : the rest of the day went as planned : approximately one thousand people assembled in Sallins Village and marched behind an RSF Colour Party , a Cumann na mBan Colour Party and Republican Bands from there to Bodenstown Graveyard , about one-and-a-half kilometers away. The main oration was delivered by Dan Hoban from Mayo , who spoke for about 50 minutes , with no script , yet managed to give a detailed history of the life and death of Wolfe Tone and of Tone’s family and the circumstances in which they lived, mentioning also , in detail , the history of those who were in the leadership of the on-going 1798 struggle with Tone at that time. It was a fascinating story , delivered in a clear , strong voice by a man who knows his history. Proceedings lasted for about two hours , following which the parade formed-up and marched back to Sallins Village . Matt and his team from the National Graves Association are to be sincerely commended for the magnificent work they put into maintaining the plot , and for their work today with the flags . Go raibh mile maith agat! We publish with this post a few photographs from today’s proceedings , with more to follow . Also , a proper report and other photographs will be published in the July 2008 issue of Saoirse, which will be available on the 2nd of that month. We will publish more Bodenstown 2008 photographs on this blog and elsewhere - links will be supplied - over the next day or so. There are a few pics as well on there

I agree that the provisional betrayal has to be highlighted but maybe not so constantly all the time. They portray RSF as old men who are bitter and the constant non-stop attacks play into that image even though it's not true and RSF have very progressive policies etc.

The commemoration went well. There was an impressive crowd in attendance and proceedings ran smoothly. Excellent oration from Dan Hoban as usual.

No one on here mentioned the Provies. I simply posted a statement that was relevant to the Tone Commemoration in which the Publicity Director criticised their actions. I have to admit I'm getting mixed messages here, on one thread I'm reading that people want more debates, but on another that they don't want a certain other group mentioned... or maybe mentioned just not so often. If people who support the Provisionals, 32s, Irps, Socialist Party, Worker's Party, FF, FG, éirígí, SDLP, PUP, DUP, Anarchists, Shell To Sea, whomever, want to participate here they're more than welcome to. And if they don't, that's fine too, but that doesn't mean everyone else should treat them with kid gloves. That's my two cents... maybe we can continue this discussion on another thread, like the Improving the IRBB thread in the Alternative Section?
