Woody Allen and the GFA
I was just watching a Woody Allen film called 'Grab the Money and Run.' One part of it reminded me of the Irish people and the GFA. The scene shows Woody as a child growing up in a New York slum, very thin and with hugh glasses. Every time an adult got angry with him, or even angry with someone else, they would tear off Woody's glasses and smash them under their shoes. Later, when Woody had grown up, he devised a nice turn to this scenario: when he felt that someone was going to be angry, he whipped his glasses off himself and smashed them into the ground with his own boots. Many Irish people seem to believe that they have managed the same reversal with the GFA, having moved from the passive to the active position: England no longer inflicts Crown misrule on them, they inflict Crown misrule on themselves :mrgreen:

It seems that delegates to the recent PSF Ard Fheis all recieved a memo from the leadership outlining the new protocol for late night ballad sessions. Old time favorites like "The Boys of the Old Brigade," "The Broad Black Brimmer" and "Come out ye Black and Tans" are no longer to be sung as they are considered out of tune with the party's peace strategy. Instead, the memo suggests Bon Jovi's "Raise your Hands", Bruce Springstein's "Born to Run," and the Elvis classic "Surrender."
